Under-eye hollows or puffiness: why filler is not the starting diagnosis

A shadow under the eye is not a diagnosis of missing volume. Before asking for tear-trough filler in Dubai, explain whether the concern is a hollow, a swelling, skin colour or a change that comes and goes. These observations belong in an examination, not a photo-only treatment order.

Describe a pattern, not a product

Note when the appearance began, whether both sides change together and whether it varies through the day. Mention eye symptoms, allergies, previous procedures and any existing filler. Bring older unfiltered photographs as a history aid, while recognising that lighting changes shadows. A practitioner should explain what they can actually identify on examination before discussing an injectable option.

Ask why volume would address this concern

Ask which part of the concern the proposed treatment targets and which part it would leave unchanged. The AAD explains that examination may identify a different procedure as more appropriate. Do not equate a commonly marketed treatment area with personal suitability. Discuss the possibility of doing nothing or seeking an eye or skin assessment when the findings point away from a cosmetic-volume problem.

Keep eye symptoms outside a beauty timeline

New pain, marked one-sided swelling or a visual change needs medical attention rather than a wait for an aesthetic appointment. Sudden visual loss after an injection is an emergency. Ask how the treating team handles urgent symptoms before agreeing to any procedure. This article cannot distinguish a harmless shadow from an eye condition, assess photographs or establish whether filler would be suitable for you.

Common questions

Can a selfie establish missing volume?

No. Lighting and camera angle cannot replace examination.

Does an under-eye treatment label confirm suitability?

No. The cause and individual risks still need assessment.

Should I wait out sudden vision loss after an injection?

No. Seek emergency medical care immediately.
